Australia’s parrots are some of the most beautiful and colourful in the world. This stamp issue features the rare and elusive Princess Parrot (Polytelis alexandrae) feeding on mistletoe (Loranthus), the common Rainbow Lorikeet (Trichoglossus haematodus) feeding on the blossoms of the Yellow Bloodwood (Eucalyptus eximia), the Green Rosella (Platycercus caledonicus) found only in Tasmania and feeds on the Mountain Pepper shrub (Tasmannia lanceolata), the Red-capped Parrot (Purpureicephalus spurious) amongst Marri eucalypt (Eucalyptus calophylla) and the Purple-crowned Lorikeet (Glossopsitta porphyrocephala), the only lorikeet native to south-western Australia amongst Illyarrie (Eucalyptus erythrocorys).
