


1992 Opening of Sydney Harbour Tunnel
Since its opening in 1932 Sydney Harbour Bridge has become one of Australia’s best known landmarks. Some 65 years later it with the city growing, there was an obvious need for a second link between the CBD and the North Shore. The New South Wales Government approved the construction for a tunnel in 1987. Construction began in January in 1988 and was completed for the official opening on 29 August 1992.
