2001 Wild Babies

$5.40

This stamp issue is a whimsical illustrated display of native animals having a party. The first minisheet shows Kevin Koala celebrating his first birthday up in the gumtree in the Australian bush. He is with his friends, Jack the Cockatoo, Chole the Ring-tailed possum Emily Echidna, Kyle Kookaburra and a host of other baby animals. Mrs Goanna wheels baby Gregory to the party while the Sugar Glider family prefers a more aerial route.

In the second minisheet down below, little Courtney Kangaroo and James Wombat clamber up the ladder to join the festivities. Jessica Platypus and her mother are pondering how they’ll manage the ascent.

This issue was released in conjunction with stamp collecting month to introduce children to the world of philately.
